Ready
« on: September 22, 2010, 08:41:46 AM »
Cut it pretty close but got it done. My daughter an I went to the range yesterday to sight in the pro hunter 50. Bought it for elk last year right after x-mas and finally was able to shoot it. What a blast, using 295 hp powerbelts with a 100 grains of triple 7 ffg. It took 4 shots to get center and 4 inches high @ 50 yards. Very comfortable and light and it has the hi viz sights which really helps. Lookin forward to this season  ;) We also did some other shooting as well. The rem 742 is dialed for deer. My ar on the other hand is causing me major grief  :'( From being able to put 3 rds in a size of nickle @ a 100 yards. To barely being able to hit a 8in plate  :bash: :dunno:. Beginning to think it's the the old scope I just put on it but not sure. Need more time to figure it out. Then we went an shot the 22 pistols. I have two the SW 622 an a ruger target hunter. My daughter likes the sw better because it's lighter and she does quite well with it. I see a couple head shot grouse in her future an on my plate   ;)
Hey! I'm not a complete idiot I have parts missing. Though sometimes I wonder.

sounds like a great day. but a question for you? do you mean a t/c pro hunter 50 cal? if so i am sure the pro hunter is not legal to hunt with in this state because it shoots only 209 primers. and is also closed breech. :dunno:

sounds like a good day. with 4 inch high at 50 yards where does that put you on center at? and with the ar did you check to make sure all your scope mounts are tight? had a 243 shooting all over the place, blamed the scope and when we went to change it we realized that it was loose, very simple fix that can be over looked. good luck!

Don't worry... I don't think most game warden's know the difference.

Course you'll probably end up getting checked by the only one that does.

I know, and what's odd is stores like Cabelas sell almost nothing but illegal muzzleloaders.  ???

I ended up taking off from work early today, I can't take the excitement anymore.  I just stripped down my Bighorn and cleaned it again and mounted my new bipod and reattached my sling.  I'll be hitting the range in the morning for a few last minute shots to make sure everything is where I sighted it in before archery season.

Yeah it was a great day being it was her 21st bday and she wanted to spend it with the oldman target shooting  :)
Seems I don't know the model name of my own firearm and have to get the box. Oh that sounds bad an I'll work on it  ;) It's a cva elkhorn pro 50 cal and came with all 3 ignitions.
I didn't shoot @ 100 with the cva figured I'd be good to at least that point. Since I'll be in the wet side jungle. The1rod, the scope mounts were the first thing I checked  ;). I have two variables with this problem. 1) Very old scope 2)Ammo, trying a few different loads but never had this much inconsistency with new loads. My head says scope but need more time to figure it out.

He was talking about his "AR" with the scope on it, not the muzzleloader.
