I haven't hunted deer for at least 12 years...it just didn't fit well into my fall work schedule. This year I decided to say screw it and start hunting again. Since I made that decision, I am so excited to go I can't hardly stand it. I know that rifle season is only two weeks away, but that isn't soon enough. I never used to get this psyched when I was younger, I guess I just anticipate it more.
The one disappointment was all of the locked gates I found on logging roads I used to ride on as a kid. Hell, it seems like a guy can't even fing a place to shoot .22's without having to drive around to and see what's still open. It's too bad. I used to know all those roads like the back of my hand. Now I need a horse just to travel on them.
