Not sure why you'd have to shoot factory weatherby only in a weatherby rifle. Only difference is weatherby rifles are free bored. Shouldn't have anything to do with what type of brass used. My dads buddy has an Weatherby Accumark and shoots Fed Premium through it just fine.

It would however make a difference if the rifle questioned is a "custom" weatherby. Then your concern would be overall cartridge length, most common in reloading, then it is important to make sure the bullet ogive doesn't contact the rifling.

With Weatherby Mags. you have to use Weatherby brass.. It is from the way the brass is shouldered.  With the cheaper Weatherby's like the Vangaurds, you can use off the shelf stuff, but the Weatherby Mags. you have to use theWeatherby brass.. Now thats what Weatherby told me when I started reloading my .240 Weatherby Mag., plus what the owners manual, and everything eles I've read about them..

Of course they tell you that from the factory. Ever had a truck, take it to the dealer and have them offer to fix it with aftermarket parts?  :chuckle:That makes zero sense you can shoot non wby ammo out of the cheaper Vangaurd, but must use Wby factory through the more expensive models? There is no way the shouldering is different between wby brass and other factories. It would be pasted through all the reloading manuals if it was. By means I'm no expert, but I have had and shot and reloaded for my .300 wby for sometime now. My dad and two of our other buddies all shoot wby mags too. Like I mentioned before, one has a $1500.00 accumark and the Fed Premium shoots circles around the Weatherby stuff. It all depends on the gun and the shooters capabilities. Compare the cost between the Wby and Fed or the others. I have probably seven boxes of Weatherby 180 grain Partitions. That's a lot of coin wrapped up in Wby ammo, the number one reason I started reloading for it. I'm sure there are way more experienced guys on here that know way more but I'm just sharing my own experiences.
