Best Alpine areas for Spot and Stalk bears in Washington?
« on: September 24, 2010, 04:01:36 PM »
I know it still early to be throwing in the towel.  But I am at a loss and I have burnt a fair amount of calories, diesel and time searching for a bear.  Been to our high country over here in the NE side of the state.  Didn't see much.

And craving spot and stalk and the ability to backpack and glass is the picture perfect hunt for me and my style.

With most of the High Buck hunt results in, I am asking the masses for ideas for next fall's bear season to get up to the high country before the High Buck hunt starts to bag a bear.

And I think I will rule out the OP just due to distance and extra time getting there.

Of the Wilderness areas, the Alpine Lakes, Glacier Peak, and Chelan area, is there one that has better high habitat for bears?

Thoughts?

I know most pass on the bears on the High Hunt, but I am more of a bear junkie than most and would take a nice bear over an average mulie everyday.

Was over in Lynden with the Bear Whacking family for a few years.  Just when I was getting the hang of things I moved.  I did score one bear over there up high though.  Once I found the goats, I found the bears.  Doesn't seem to work that way over here.   Also finding that there is a vast difference in the spring bear hang outs vs fall bears.  And saying "Find the berries find the bears" is not really that simple.   There are generally some type of berry almost everywhere, thus, the fall bears seem spread out and in thick stuff over here.  In the lowlands.
