Another route for a shotgun, is to find a Thomson New Englander, and order a 12 ga. barrel for it. I bought a new TC 12 ga. barrel from the TC gun shop 3 years ago. Cost for the barrel was just over $200. It takes choke tubes and has performed well.

You might possibly find a used CVA or other shotgun for a reasonable price.

A muzzle loading shotgun is a lot of fun, the only way to go for turkey hunting.

Thanks everyone!  I'm looking forward to this weekend as I'm going to run up to the Chewelah area looking for a black bear.  I havent hunted up north in over 20 years so it'll be interesting to see if I can remember how to get around up there..

thanks for the offer on the 50 cal but you're on the other side of the state and no plans for me to be on that side this year.  I do have a line on another TC New Englander but I cant find anyone that sells the 12ga barrel for it.  Seems Fox Ridge is out of business and TC is not carrying barrels for it since they were bought by S&W.
Anyone seen a BP percussion shotgun for sale in the Spokane area?

Good luck bear huntin' in Chewelah.  PathfinderJR and I will be up there doing the same.  My buddy says it's a little late for bears up there, most of the fruit is gone, but oh well, it's better than stayin' home, right....?

Thanks again everyone.  Black bear lived to see another day.  I spoted one up a rocky hill about 1/2 mile away did a stalk but never found him again.  I'm pretty sure he heard me falling several times in the rocks..lol..

I'm getting my 50 cal T/C white mountain carbine set up with peep sights and plan on shooting a coyote this season with it.  Should be fun.  It shoots patched round balls about 1" at 50 yards even with a 1-38 twist.

I also picked up that T/C New Englander .54 cal so I'm keeping a eye out for a 12 ga barel for it.  I just emailed T/C to see if you can still buy them from the factory.
