I love my 25-06, loaded with 115grainers, I would not hesitate on a shot at even an elk if it was the right situation, and the elk needed killin.  Good lookin fire stick that Tikka.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
If I ageed with you, then we'd both be wrong.

Yep, detachable.  No floor plate or hinge either as on an A-Bolt.  Straight magazine, pop it in a ready to roll

Until you forget the clip somewhere :chuckle: :chuckle:
:chuckle: funny you should mention that.........  I cannot find my clip anywhere!  And at around $65 a pop, not keen on getting another, though an extra or two would be nice.

Make sure to keep an eye on the bolt shroud.  Mine cracked after less than 100 rounds, and I have the 300 WSM.  I work with a guy who has a 7mm and his cracked between 150-200 rounds.  I see a guy at the range once in a while, and he says he is on number 3 in as many years.

I called Tikka (beretta), and they told me to hunt/shoot my gun without the shroud until it came in the mail, but there is something about shooting a rifle without all of its pieces that doesnt appeal to me to much...

That bolt shrowd (or is it shroud?) is really cheap ghetto looking but I heard on another bulletin board that it is not mission critical to the rifle. At any rate this new rifle is as much fun to shoot as my CZ now that I have a good load which it likes. Miles you were right... good fun. It seems I can sometimes get one round right on top of another one and then a third stray every now and then.  :rockin: :mgun2: :whoo:

bolt shroud?...where is this located? forgive the ignorance...but if it has a tendancy to fail, I want to keep an eye on it.

I have put about 50 rounds through mine so far...

thanks~!

saylean,

The shroud is the rearmost portion of the bolt, nearest your nose. It is the LAST line of defense, regarding gas shielding,in a catastrophic case failure(bore obstruction, wrong ammo, inappropriate powder, yada, yada).

Tikka's are the Scandahoovian's bottom of the barrel offering and are poor in numerous regards(personal safety, topping that list).

Should a shroud let loose,it is in THE exact proximity of your frontal lobe and the escaping gasses can/will scoot it to terminal velocity.(pun there)

Poor design, poor materials...replete with NO redeeming qualities..................

Wow, no redemeing qualities!  :o

Nothing like trying to blast someone elses gear completely out of the water. Nice Try "Big Stick".  The problem is, I doubt many here are taking commments like that seriously.

I for one am no gun expert. But, I have heard great things about Tikka. I also understand that most manufacturers have issues with an occasional design flaw. I think that honest discussion on a board like this is what owners of this gun want and need, not just attacks. If you have knowledge, please share...

I've owned three Tikka's over the years. A T3 Hunter 25-06 and then a T3 Lite Stainless in both 25-06 and .308

All three were MOA or better right out of the box with factory ammo. The actions are very slick, they feed flawlessly, and the trigger seems like it's all Sako - adjusts effortlessly with an allen wrench (without even removing the barrel and action from the stock) down to a very crisp, safe 2lbs. Plus, they're light and balance well IMO - add this to their function and accuracy and I can see where many feel there's a lot of value there, even if they aren't beauty queens and despite the extensive use of plastic.

I ultimately sold my Tikka's as there are certain aspects of the rifle build I do not like.... especially for a hunting rig.

1. Liberal use of plastic parts
2. Detachable Clip
3. Hard to load from the breech
4. Action Length..... only 1
5. Plunger ejector and a hook style extractor
6. Synthetic stock feels flimsy and has too much flex

And then of course there's the bolt shroud issue.....
