Sekiu Coho?
« on: September 13, 2010, 10:33:42 PM »
Still really slow at Sekiu this past weekend. A lot of disgruntled fishermen.  In three days the two us caught only 4 coho with only one hatchery fish.  Lot's of outgoing blackmouth to 12 lbs.  No bait.  Lots of silvers still being reported offshore at bluedot.  But most of these fish will move south.  :dunno:  No one can forecast if the fishing will pick up soon.

Any updates on the Coho?

Heading that way next week... hope some of the fish show up to play. There are quite a few coho already in the trap at soos creek hatchery, so I figure it's either going to be a tiny run this year or a huge one. We will see I guess. ;)

A fishing website that I check daily said it just turned hot today. It reported that the fish checkers at Olson's checked 75 fish for 19 boats with several in the 13 to 18 pound range. Similar reports out of Van Riper's and Curley's.

I am fishing the sound this weekend so I hope they swim down fast.

A good friend who spends all summer there called and said it did pick up today. They got 3 nice fish and saw several good ones come in. Not on fire but a better report than all summer.

I fished it Thursday and Friday and got limits of nice coho... It was busier I think though than I've ever seen it! Lots of blackmouth to look out for though and it never ceases to amaze me how idiots can't tell them apart  >:(

Ya it was crazy how many I saw come in as pinks... the checkers can't or don't do anything about it and I never see enforcement officers out there

The checkers count them as kings. That is why fishing got closed sooner last year for kings. To many undersize got killed so the king season got closed sooner. It all comes out in the wash and a few screw things up for the rest.

Would be cool to see more tickets handed out at the dock and maybe a few boats taken.

Brother in law just got back from a second trip.  The fish are now in and he caught them up to 18 lb.  The main run was late this year!
