bird hunting
« on: September 27, 2010, 11:51:23 AM »
Are there any good bird hunting areas around north west? I want to find somewhere I can go for the day and not have to travel east of the mountains.

Do you mean no birds east of the mountains. Or no birds in north west?

some decent waterfowl on the west side of the state, but not a ton in the way of Pheasant, Chukkar, Hungarians, or Quail.  Lots of grouse though.

When hunting in this state, (no matter what you are hunting for), please refer to my illustration.

Specific areas I know less about, as I predominantly hunt the East Side.  What I was attempting to illustrate is that there are tons of lakes, ponds, streams, and Puget sound and lots of waterfowl hunters that stay on the west side to hunt due to habitat and lots of ducks and geese that come throughout the season vs. the habitat for upland birds on the west side not being all that great.

Best of luck

What he was attempting to illustrate is he don't want anymore hunters on the eastside.  The eastside is where all the great hunting is at.   :hello:  It is well worth the trip over the mountains or south of Seattle.

Funny.. :chuckle:  I don't bird hunt much anymore.  I didn't want him to be under the illusion that there was lots of upland bird in droves on the West Side.  There is good waterfoul on both sides of the state.  But not good upland bird on both sides of the state.  Best of luck.

hey JLOOMIS-

another thing you can do is post something in the Waterfowl thread saying the general area where you live and people will help you out a ton! the people on this site are absolutely awesome! if you are close to a lot of people I'm sure some of them will even offer to take you out or show you around.

Hey man, I have an awesome spot to hunt birds near where you live.  I am always down to take a new fellow hunter.  I have a couple dogs that I have trained to work well with new guys.  My guess is you need to practice shooting before going out for the first time?
