Bear-y Madness
« on: September 27, 2010, 08:49:40 PM »
Over the last week I've been hitting some close areas that are open to hunting but all gated.  There are multiple location spread in one general area.  Yesterday went to a spot with TONS of berries and TONS of bear sign.  They are sitting in these spots right by the gated road chowing down on the berries.  All the grass it matted down and scat everywhere.

Tonight I check out another spot a mile up the road and ran into 4 bears.  I rode my bike about 2 miles behind the gate and turned up a road and stopped, checking things out for a few.  Then the thrashing began... bear was in the thick stuff chowing down but couldn't see him.  I was there for at least 30 minutes trying to get a bead on him from all sides, no luck  >:(.  I was not more than 10-15 yards away but its so thick, couldn't make him out.  Sounded like an elephant in there.

Moved down the road a bit and saw one scramble up the hill and gone.  Then kept going and saw two across a draw on a ridge, bout 200 yards away.  It was almost dark, by myself, and couple miles behind the gate.  I got it in my scope and this thing was big, but would have been a bear to get out .  Wasn't sure what was at the bottom of the steep hillside it was on and it would have tumbled to the bottom  :bash:.  I rode out and when I went around that thicket the 1st bear was still in there making hella noise eating dinner.  I made some noise and he had to wind me but didn't care and didn't go anywhere.  They are there but need some help getting em out.  If anyone is up for it PM me.  On the Wetside

I'd be up for it on Sunday.  I have ferry my daughter to another island for homecoming on Saturday.
