I have personally seen Whitetail east of Baker/west of Diablo/Ross lakes in the 80's. There was that cow and calf here in Bellingham/Ferndale for a while. There have been sightings of Moose at the north end/east of Baker lake for many years. Transients. I have seen Mule deer west of the Pacific Crest trail/east of Ross lake on/near highway 20 this year. Much of that area of the northern interior be it park or national forest is quite untamed. It would not surprise me to see moose or even a Griz or two in that quadrant. Last year there was a cow elk north of the north fork Nooksack up by the equipment shed on Mount Baker highway. Critters wander. They get chased, they follow the food.-Steve
