Well after scouting for the last 2 mouths and really putting one deer in my sights that I wanted to harvest.
Day one-
started in a ground blind at 4am in the middle of a stubble field, but the deer I was looking for just didn't come threw, but I did pass on 3 legal buck that walked past the blind. That night found me back in the blind and passing on 2 more legal buck waiting on the big boy. Well at 6:45 the big boy and the 3x3 came in to the the field but he was at 340 yards, so I backed out and left.
Day 2-
same deal back in the blind and 2 more legal boys came through but the needed to live 1 or 2 more year but no sign of the 5x6 so I left. That after noon at 1:00 pm I was back in the blind sweating my ass off in til 6:00 when the sun went down. The only thing that came in on that draw was 3 does. So I snuck out the back without spooking them. While heading out on draw over from were I was sitting I jumped a 3x3 and in front of him was the big boy but I couldn't get a shot and they ran over the hill into the sage.
Day 3-
Well I decided that I wasn't going into my normal area that I was just going to watch and see were the big boy moved to, but couldn't find him. So I went to plan B and hit a state piece that I have been seeing deer on. Went to the back SW corner and jumped 1 4x4 and 2 3x3 and a 26 to 28 inch 2 point that was slicker then slick. but didn't get a running shot. That night No shooters cam into the blind and the were going to start cutting the wheat in the morning so I new I would have to go in to the buck hole and I was not looking forward to it.
Day 4:
Well the morning started out just driving around looking for something to put a stock on but nothing so to the hole I went (8:30). I started down the ridge to the hole and I jumped a group of little 2 and 3 points that ran around the ridge and went in to the east end of the buck hole.
So I kept moving slowly down the ridge and I jumped a big 3 point 200 yard from me but I couldn't get a shot. The buck ran into some timber and turned and looked back to see what jumped him. I might say I was in some 2 feet CRP grass with on sage brush bush in the middle, so I sat down and waited for him to turn so I could start crawling out of sight. 20 min later he layed down so I got out of sight. I decided that I wanted to put a stock on this buck. At this point I was 800 yards away. so I had alot of ground to cover to get the shot.
At 10:15 I got to 170 yard and that was as close as I could get, but he was bedded down. Well I new I couldn't get a good shot of the bi-pods so I cut some limbs out of this sage brush bush and made a rest at the Y of the bush.
Well he finely stood up at 1:15 so I got to the spot were I had my gut at the sage. I range it and I was 173 yards piece of cake. I held 2 inches above his back and pulled the trigger and he dropped in his tracks

.
Well went through the canyon and got to him. I seen his body and I new he was the biggest body deer I ever have shot. Well he rolled down the hill from were I shot and he got tangled in some sage and i could not move him. So I gutted him and move him 10 feet out of the sage.
Call a buddy and told him I had on down in the hole and he said, be rite down. So I started boning him out. and he show up around 215. I might say that I was 1 1/2 from my truck and in a huge canyon. Long story short We got out at 800pm and got him to my buddy cooler. By the way we jumped 11 legal buck in the hole
We figured the deer weighed 215 to 230 with out his guts in him and we aged him at 5 1/2 to 6 1/2. He is a 3x3 but he has quit a bit of trash on him. So he is a 5x5.
It was a great year and now on to guiding
