Finally, the fire is started
« on: September 26, 2010, 12:41:40 PM »
Took my son Turkey hunting yesterday.  This was his frist trip carrying a rifle.  We saw a few birds though we couldn't close the deal.  I've never shot a Turkey so it is the blind leading the blind.  What was great to see was his excitement and readiness.  The last couple years of regular hunting he was losing interest and not going out with me as much because we was getting tired of just being there for the trip and not actually being able to hunt himself.  I think if he gets his deer this year the fire will once again be strong.

Cool! Ya I know being apart of the hunt and not just a bird dog or tag along can make it more interesting and fulfilling for a new hunter, good for you

Glad that you clarified on the weapon he was carrying. Very exciting. My boy has been going with me for several years. Last year was his first year actually hunting. He closed the deal on a fat doe. One of the most memorable moments of my life and I know he will never forget it. He claims that he is holding out for a buck this year but we shall see. We will be going out Saturday to see if he can bag his first turkey. Good luck to you and your boy on the rest of the season.
