Ok,  don't know if this should be on this thread or not but here goes.  I fletched up some spiral flu-flu's and had my girlfriend throwing grape fruit and other random targets for me.....Not turnin em all to pulp but I'm thinkin about takin the stick and string out this week end for cacklin cocks.  My? is has any one used snaro point for pheasent?  The reason I ask is cause i'm worried about my four legged buddy pickin up a bird w/an arrow in it. Any suggestions?  Also thinkin about tryin water fowlin too. So i know this is gonna be a chalange but i'm willin to try it and any help would be awsome

the snaro points are good at very close ranges. it more knocks them down then kills them. kinda like the name implies it snares them. i am a huge flu flu buff and shoot regularly. the best thing that i have found is old broadheads buy some cheap older heads round the point a bit and make sure the edges ain't to sharp. as far as the dog, i understand what you mean. i have thought the same. the best thing is either a judo or a field point with a adder point behind the point. both can work well for getting birds. The other head is called a condor it is a judo on steroids and is pretty slick as well. hope this helps good luck in your quest. its a blast

Take a blunt tip drill a hole in one side all the way through, turn the blunt 9O degrees and do the same thing.run a piece of coat hanger through both holes and bend the ends forward. You basically have a gobbler guillotene without the sharp edges. I have never tried it but if I was gonna I think that's how I would do it. Let us know how you do!

Just looked at the condor......  I'm gonna go with Nubbs idea on this one and make a couple. If they don't hold up it's gonna be the condor.  The extra impact area is gonna help my lack of skill....just hope it's gonna be enough to break a wing.  I wouldn't have a problem using a field tips & adder or old boadhead but to me its a team sport and I just can't take the risk. Thanks guys and lookin for more options if you can come up w/any.

That was on Arrow Affliction. Chris Brackett dove hunting tips, rubber blunts with coat hangers. I remember seeing this on Archery Talk with some pictures.

a couple things to think about. safety wise, what bow are you shooting.are you shooting a recurve or comp? you need to be very very careful, if you make these type of points. they could snag up on the riser of your bow when you draw back and shoot. your arrow will have to stick out past the riser of the bow on a recurve to clear for the shot. if you are shooting a compound you need to make sure your arrows will stick past the riser.also if you have a sight on the bow, make sure the wires do not snag on the sight. building and shooting these points can be dangerous if not done right. i have made some and did not like the way they shot and the idea of what might happen if a wire got hung up when the arrow was released. these are my  i would hate to see someone get hurt.

 Recurve......I paper tuned these arrows bare shaft w/ 1 3/4 inch past riser at full draw just in case.  I did this to make sure on the flush or flare I don't want anything bad to happen in case of over draw.  I'm with ya.  Anything else you can think of?

good deal in the heat of the moment, with a snap shot. overdraw is somthing we all have to think about. you should be o.k. with 1 3/4" extra. just like with a shotgun. make sure you lead them and shoot at where they are going not where they are. good luck you you hope you get some.

I made one of these last night. One thing I figured out is to keep them about 6". With fluflu's on your arrow find the correct tip weight with practice tips then figure the weight of the blunt and hangers together. Dont bend the tip until you have the weight, trim each a little at a time until its correct the bend the tips out. My buddy got a crow with it, im not good enough yet.

So far not so good......Runners and long shots just aint what I expected.  I can tell that my dog aint too happy w/me.   And Aint is a word I use it all the time.

  they do not like to help a guy out, thats for sure. i can't tell you how many arrows i have shot to get the couple birds i have taken with a bow. A LOT keep at it
