Leasing Property for hunting
« on: September 30, 2010, 02:13:58 AM »
Don't know if this is the right place but here goes anyway.  I lived in TX for about 7 years and there it's about 90% private and 10% public land.  Washington seems to be just the opposite.  Being that there is so much public land to hunt is there land owners that lease there property to hunters or is this frowned upon.  I really would like to have a places to lease, but I don't want to be barking up the wrong tree.

By-the-way, I thought ya'll might enjoy this pic.  It's of some of the local wildlife up here where I work.  To bad you cant shoot them.

Leasing is becoming more common in some areas of Washington. At this point I personally don't think it is necessary for a quality hunt as it is in some states. We have no problems getting on great animals by knocking on doors or hunting public land. What we considers high hunting pressure here pales in comparison to what I have experienced back east. With a little scouting it is easy to find mature animals in low pressure areas.

Agreed.

I wouldn't be against leasing land though. It's have to be good.

Rayonier is a timber company along the coast of WA State.  They lease land.  You can contact the Hoquiam, WA office at 360-533-7000.  They advertise in the WA Big Game hunting regs pamphlet.  Website is rayonierhunting.com.  Full disclosure:  I work for Rayonier.  If this violates the forum rules, I appologize, but I'm only answering a question asked.
