if you can find a store with a pair of nikon edg's give them a peek. right now you can get them for sub 1k and get a free d3000 as a rebate, trip it on ebay and you at the price of the gold rings....and the glass is as good as it gets. :twocents:

there is a reason they were list priced at $2200.00

That sounds like a steal, what stores would have them at that price? I've priced them on ebay, cabelas, etc. and i've only seen the $2200 price tag. I had heard about the promotional deal to get a free D3000 SLR out of the deal but I haven't seen any prices for around $1k. Please let me know and i'd be all over that!

I am saving up for a pair of binos in the same price range.  I had kind of settled on the Gold Rings as well, but now I see I have a little more research to do.
Good thread, I am taking notes... 8)

Vortex Razor's, for the money they're unbeatable and their warranty is 1oo%  unconditional and transfirable.  I've had a pair of GR leupy's 10x35 for around 16 years and love them, the grandsons now, but wanted 10x42 and tried out many, including GR's, no comparison, the Razor's are a steal at the  price. :twocents:

Went up and picked up a set of the Gold Rings a couple days ago.  Felt like I got a pretty good deal on em too.   Regular price was $799.99.  They were on sale for $699.99.  I got a $100 mail in rebate to Leupold, so that put em' at $599.99.  Then Cabelas was running an ad that said if I signed up for their card it'd knock $100 off a $500 or larger purchase and that put em in my hands for $499.99 plus tax.   :dunno:

Got home and liked what I saw while glassing just before dark.  They gather plenty of light, and things were very crisp...Leaps and bounds better than my Wind Rivers and I only payed $100 more for the Gold Rings.

That's a great deal Joevon (except for the part where you wound up with a new credit card  :chuckle: - I have a feeling that Cabelas will get their money back eventually).
I wound up getting the Zen Ray ED2s, and I love them.

One brand I haven't really seen mentioned is the Zeiss Conquests.  I have had a pair of 15X45 zeiss conquests for about 5 years now and they have been excellent.  Very lightweight at around 19 ounces and clear crisp picture.  Have never had a problem in low light.  They are in the $1,000.00 range now, I got in when the they first came out and picked them up new in box for $650 but they have steadily risen in price since then.  The only gripe I have is the eye cup design being plastic and a twist up.  Broke both of those one year but Zeiss replaced them free of charge, no questions asked.  I am extremely hard on my gear and hunt in some nasty conditions and after 5 years of beating the  :crap: out of them I would buy another pair in a heartbeat.

That is a screaming deal on the GR though JoeVon, I wouldnt pass that up if I was in the market.

I was just at Cabelas on Wednesday. I was open minded going in. I looked at Stiener predators, Cabelas Euros, Golden Ring HD's and Ziess Conquest. After looking through them all, I choose the Leupolds. The Cabelas were the only glass even close, but they were more money without the warranty. Just my opinion, you really have to look through them for yourself.

I've got the Leupold Gold Ring 10x42 and I love them. Their a little heavier than my old pair of Nikon Monarch, but my opinion is the Gold ring 10x42 are well worth their money. I paid $599 at Cabalas, they are very clear and pick up low light great. And they seem to be real durable.
WDWF needs to get a clue before it's to late!!!
