Skinning Pole

Had a buddy fab me up a new skinning pole for the season.  After using gutpile's for my bear i was sold on having one.  Heres a few pics of it. 





its pretty heavy duty and not on the light side, but it should hold just about anything.  I bought a 1ton manual chain hoist, gambrel, and big game scale for it so im ready to roll!!  now i just need to shoot something!

Looks good! does it break down in the middle for transport?

Me and my Dad both made one a couple of years ago. We were deer hunting and the guy that was camped by us let my dad use it when he got his deer on opening day. Works great. We didn't put a scale on it and used a old come along instead of a chain but other than that there the same. You'll love it, hope you get some meat hanging on it soon.

Best thing ever. I love mine. I hunt south east where there are no trees to use so needed something. Nine Antelope will be peeled on it next week. WooHoo!!!!

Very nice custom jobs guys!  I've been wanting to build one for quite some time now, but time away from hunting/fishing is the biggest problem.

Nice pole    i might have to build one of those, it just needs to swivel so that you can set your animal right in the bed once its skinned and in a game bag. if that's the way you do it.

So now you need to install a couple hooks at the bottom that you can hook onto the hide, then as you winch your deer up it pulls the skin off !!  

Just start the hind legs before you attach the gambrel then hook the hide there and winch it up and it should just peel it like a banana, may have to adjust once but it should make the job quite easy !!!

here is our meat pole used in WY for antelope. It could handle 4 at a time. Not the best pick though. It is made with 1" square tubing and has a center pole for support. In the 2nd pic we had to hang the 5th from the tree. 
I like the HD version especially for a big muley or elk.

400out, yes it does break down for transport.  its just big enough to fit diagonally in the small bed my truck has.

the1rod,  theres no reason to have this one swivel its plent tall enough and the hoist chain is long enough that it can swing around and get it into the bed of the truck.  havnt tried it yet obviously but thats how gutpile's is and the same guy built them so it should work the same.

cant wait to use it.  hoping to take the old smoke pole to an elk this weekend!

I am throwing one together now for our trip to WY on sunday.
Won't be any thing special but it will do the job for for teh Analope, but will have to make a heavier duty one at a later date.

I've seen them made with a pivot too, so you can lift the animal, and then swing it into the bed if you like...

Ribka has some pic of mine being used this last week with all our lopes we shot. I hope he post up a pic or two of ot. It worked out great and saved our backs.

they sure are nice arnt they gasman.  cant wait to get something down to try mine out!  luckily deer season is around the corner!  still mad that i didnt get an elk to put on there....next year!

I built this one ten years ago for a yote skinner. Yours is a little more high-class  I miht have to go back to the drawin board.

The one I made worked great for skinning all those lopes last week 

Saved our backs big time. Took it apart after each use and put it in the back of the truck untill the next skinning, only took seconds to dismantel and move on 
Wanna make the next one to swivel, for loading the game in the back of the truck.


Tie to look at building a bigger, stronger one before late archery elk season.

Completly dismantels in to 3 pieces. stored it in the truck box on our way down.

The red board on the tailgate is my cutting board. We skinned them and deboned them on the spot.

got to break mine in today for the first time on my 2010 deer.   was pretty stoked and it worked out slick.
