Question??
« on: October 01, 2010, 10:01:22 PM »
Has anybody hunted during the time the forest service starts burning slash piles?  Can you tell a difference in elk numbers?  Got word they are gonna being burning the slash piles up where we hunt so I am kind of curious.  Still gonna hunt the area.  At least our scent will be covered.  Any information would be great.  Thanks in advance. :fire.:

Two years ago in N. Idaho I was hunting in an area where they were flying helicopters dropping fuel and burning the clearcuts.  Masssive fires and had no issues taking my elk.  Actually saw more animals and large bucks that I figured was due to them being pushed around a bit.  The deer and elk were not scared just forced to move around now and then.  That was an interesting experience however with all the fires, felt like I was in a movie.
