Hello,
My dad drew one of the 124 late October bull tags for Rimrock. He is diabled (he can walk, but slowly), so he won't be hunting into the wilderness unless we hire some horses. We have considered doing so, but aside from the expense, we are unsure whether this would be any better than down low that late in the fall. I know the area is very thick and steep in places, so we are at a bit of a disadvantage right out of the gate.
My thought was to pick our way through the forest in the dark, somewhere around the S. Fork of the Tieton River, then start cow calling as daylight approaches. Hopefully there would be at least one bull in a week that would still be curious. I would greatly appreciate any advice/experience anyone might be willing to share that could help increase our odds. He's taken dozens of bucks through the years, but I would sure like to get him one decent bull while he still gets around as well as he does. Thank you for your help.
