brute of a bear
« on: October 03, 2010, 08:19:20 AM »
OK I'm not a trophy hunter at all.........But when it comes to big boars,or just getting boars I love it..I have come across a pig of a bear,,I know he has black fur from hair Ive found..I know he is big by tracks and poop Ive found. He is eating berries and stump findings, his poop is like 3inches long of berries and 3 inches long of stump material{thats a good clue}He is in a most difficult location to hunt..He will not respond to a call as of yet,and will not let himself be seen. The wind is down right sucky in this spot also..I have made up my mind that I want him..I'm hoping for an early snow to beat down some of the jungle, and at least a freeze so I can quit donating so much blood to the skeeters..I have two vantage points but with the thickness of the area I cannot see in there,,He comes up on an old skidder trail and uses it for a short distance,he makes a deposit and then moves on.I sit on that spot and he hasn't shown while I was there ,obviously...Its getting frustrating, and at the same time its consuming all my thoughts.Just venting here.

Can you get in there and put up a portable tree stand?
Will help with visibility and the wind issues. Of course if wind is really bad best to stay out of area until better conditions

Having the same issues with a couger in my area. When Nov comes going to devote more time into finding him.

Good luck

Good luck Rasbo. With the amount of time you spend in there I would say his day's are numbered.

Obviously he is a pretty smart bear, otherwise he would not have lived to get so large. He also has avoided others that maybe would have gotten him. I know that you are very skillful in the woods and my money is on you.

Good luck with your persuit, you know his whereabouts and that is a large part of the battle, your persistence and skill will be the rest. I look at it like fishing, you can not just throw your line in once or twice and expect to catch the big one. You have to throw in over and over until everythings times out right.

I have two tree stands in there now, above where the sign is..any bear that moves through either one of those locations would leave a track..Zero sign there now.spring had sign..No tag though..I might move one stand down when I can access the property again.there are some nice bucks around,I could get lucky and have one move through during the opener its a great escape area..

If you get a bear box for your trail cam and hang her up with a cable they wont get your camera. I had pictures of a bear playing with my camera but he didn't do anything to it.

The problem is you're probably not wearing your trusty loin cloth.  Don it, go forth, and the brute will fall.  Hail mighty Rasbo!

Go get him Jim!!! If it wasn't the bear that ate my camera then it was his accomplice...at least that's my story. I know there is good video on the camera! Jim I also have a couple cheap game cameras that you can use so when they get eaten like donuts it won't matter and they are the right size to cause heart burn. Good luck with the bruin.
