2010 elk hunt father son
« on: October 03, 2010, 03:14:20 PM »
Had a great elk hunt this year. We had a great time. My son killed his first big 6x6 bull, and i shot a small 6x6.  But we got into them this year. I called in my sons bull  into 15 yards as he pulled back to shoot  the bull stopped and started racking his antlers in the tree just in front of him for about a minute. Then stepped out in front of him for the shot.
  Next it was my turn as my son was calling elk in for me. We set up on this herd of elk with a few satellite bulls. My son started to cow call as I was just getting ready. as  a 5x5 comes running in the bull saw a little motion and turned up hill and away. 5 seconds latter came a big 6x6 bull as he came running in and straight at my son. The bull stops 4 yards in front of my son looks around and then starts rubbing his antlers in the same tree he is under :yike:. Mean while I cant shoot as my son is right there at the bulls feet. Then the bull got our scent  and darted out, with no shot.
 Couple days later we called in another 6x6 and put the hammer on him. fun hunt and lots of bulls. Not usually like this. O yea as my bull died he fell down a steep ravine and busted his whole antler off after g-2. So we put a couple of sticks to support it and a little duck tape to hold it. And he has a new name (the Duck tape bull}
  I will post a couple pics. not the best pics though
