Anyone hunting 133, Roosevelt?
« on: October 06, 2010, 10:34:43 AM »
I am heading over for the opener, doe tag in pocket, and was thinking of bringing my boat to hunt along the lake in the Rec. Area.    I thought I had access on some private land but that is now in doubt.  I have one other feeler out but who knows.  It seems like there is a lot of land available along the lake and since I have a doe tag as well as my general tag,  it might be worth it to check it out.  There are a few areas of state land in the unit, but I am sure they will have lots of hunters in them.

I am going to try to camp in the Penix Canyon CG but not sure if I will get there in time for a spot.  If not, I see that I can camp along the shore as long as I am more than 1/2 mile from a developed camp.

Anyone interested in going along?  I can hunt from Sat. to at least Wed.

If you do not find anything on the first 2 days, I can probably get you on ther land I am hunting. We are south of the lake and east of the highway going from Davenport to Ft. Spokane. We are between Harker canyon and Mill canyon. I can't get you on the first two days because he reverves that for his family from Kirkland and people like me that have been hunting his land for about 14-15 years. But On Monday there shouldn't be a problem. He controls alot of land and I can garuantee a doe, for sure. He would like that because of the crop damage he gets every year. He wants people to take does. Plenty of areas to camp on his land also. There are both whities and muleys. I tagged out the last 6 out of 7 years.

Man....tons of turkeys on the land I am on. A few years ago, the Colville Indians planted a bunch of Elk on there reservation. They hunted the heard some much that they swam the river and now there is elk in northern Lincoln county where there wasn't before. Also, the land we are on has at least 3 cats and a few black bear. Plus a couple of years ago the Gammie was taking his daughter to school and almost hit a bull moose comming up out of Mill canyon. Lots of Grouse too. It's like a private game refuge.

If you wouldn't mind a 42 year old guy with average hunting skills tagging along to hunt and learn more ......I'll head out with you. I always wanted to hunt that area but I don't know it well. Living in snohomish, getting over to scout often isn't practicle. I had a hunting partner who had to cancel last minute so I'm stuck going alone I guess. Can split gas and all costs of the trip and I have all my own gear. Let me know what you think. :-)

Just like I told lokidog....I couldn't get you on the land until Monday. That's the land owner's deal not mine.

Lol.....thanks grainfedmuli..... I was more or less replying to the initial post but if you've got access to private land I'm down. Email me for more specifics and a number to call you at and we can chat. I'll even pay ya to get me on private land over there......hehe.
