My 2010 Moose
« on: October 06, 2010, 09:05:19 AM »
My trip wasn't the best as instead of taking my Dad, I took a virus along.  I show up and so does the weather.  Also my curse this year.  The plan was to photgraph the Diamond pack and some big bulls.   The highlite of my trip was watching this bull appear within 10 yards of me.  He never made a sound.  he came in SILENT.   He hooked a bush in front of me (the only sound I did hear) stood for a bit.  He gave me time to  change out lens as he was TOO CLOSE.  He then disappeared into the fog as if I had wasted his time.   I'd have dumped him.  10 yards or less, broadside.   I don't think I put got the pic that really shows how far his fronts extend.   The fog was as thick as it gets.  I couldn't autofocus at all.  I felt pretty naked standing there staring down a bull at under 10 yards.  No tag, I'll see him next year.  Hopefully with Idabooner this time.

Great pics Doug, hope you get feeling better.  He's got great paddle width and lots of tines, heckuva bull.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.

I'll find the shot of how far his fronts stick out where they fork.  That was cool.   I like him becasue he does have some scoring potential yet still has points.  I like long points which don't tend to bode well for the average moose score.  USUALLY that means they lack paddle.   It was SURREAL watching him appear out of the fog without making a sound.
