Antelope A Palooza 2010
« on: October 06, 2010, 03:21:15 PM »
Been going to Montana for the past three years. Thought I'd start a post for this years hunt, Each year I try to introduce a friend / client to the wonderful world of the pronghorn antelope. This year I will be taking two newbies and an old friend that went on Antelope a palooza 2009. So far I've bagged two respectabe bucks but filled our tags early in the hunt. I tend to suffer from premature tagulation when traveling for 13 hours and thinking about antelope steaks on the grill. This year I'm going to reign in my enthusiasm and hold out for a legit 15 plus speed goat.
We depart on Thursday and start hunting on Saturday.
I'll post pics when I get back
Here is headshots 2009 speed goat. Too bad Dave can't make it this year but we'll manage to have fun anyway

Aw... man, I'd love to go on a speed goat hunt some time.  Is that an over the counter tag? (my inlaws/wife are from Dayton)

Nice job on last years goat (headshot)

It's a draw tag, We have been real lucky that's why I'm going to be a bit selective this year. Hopefully the winter kill wasn't to bad. They estimated 30% reduction in antelope numbers so I'm optimistic there will still be plenty of shooters.

Thanks for the comment on Headshots goat.

Good Luck! It is/was hard to be selective when there are hundreds to choose from. This years priority was meat (accomplished). Next year I will try to hold out for larger horns, but if they tast as bad as they smell whats it matter. The meat is awesome.
Speed goats hunting is a blast.  :chuckle:

Good luck on your hunt!  My partner and I drew antelope tags also this year.  We are heading over towards the end of the month.  Leave a couple for us.   8)
