I know of a ranch for lease (300 acres) that last year had 35 four point or better bucks coimg in and out of it. Some friends took a 165 and 150ish off it. It will cost $1,000 a head for the entire season to hunt it. It is the going rate in the area. It is in 133 Roosevelt GMU. There is quite a bit of timberon it and is surrounded by wheat and alfalfa fields. If someone is interested, shoot me a private message. I would love to hunt it! I have the tag. But I also live in the area and this guy don't pay to hunt on land! :yike:

i would caution anyone thinking of trespassing, alot of people seem to think they can just road hunt, shoot and scoot. seems somebody may be inferring that if ya get away with it you won't be prosecuted. in gmu 127 near the bounty line alot of us got together and have taken the last couple modern season hunts off, simply to video tape and work with law enforcement. last year 3 were prosecuted. game wardens aren't the only ones puting out a decoy, ;)alot of lazy road hunting slobs and trespassers, which is one in the same as recovery requires trespassing have made it difficult to get permission in this area these days. maybe the farther from Spokane the better the attitude of the land owners. would recommend knocking on doors near the end of July, if ya see hay lying down and offer to help pick it up. best of luck to you.

:yeah:
I just watch the roads just get swamped with road hunters on opening weekend out here. It would be a big mistake if someone shot something on my property or anyone else around me. So I'm not quite sure why they road hunt out here. It happens all the time. The excuse of it wasn't posted don't work! Unfortunetly a few have ruined it for all. I know of farmers having guns pulled on them on there own property. If you ask well in advance of hunting season, you may have a shot. If you wait till the weekend before, forget about it. There are alot of farmers charging now because alot of guys will pay it. Like I said, I will never pay!

We had 3 people trespass and shoot deer in one day!   Including a "master hunter", who, evidently thought that made a difference both when he asked permission and was politely told "no, but thanks for asking", and after he went out and shot a deer anyway and had to explain it to the gamey.   :chuckle:

Some of my favorites:

The guys who run to road like it's "base" when they see you coming.

Or, the guys who just freeze like "Oh, sh*t".

The guys who bail out and lean over the hood with their rifle 100 yards from the house

When the first question is "are you a local?"   Yep, actually own that dirt your trespassing on.

This is a good one, "but I drove all the way from "location", where am I supposed to hunt?"

Or, my all time favorite "well, I stopped by the house first, but no-one was home."   I always reply "Oh really, did my dog give you permission, then?"

And those hunters are the ones who have ruined it for all the rest of us............

I have lived out in the Palouse for a couple of years now. I know a couple of the farmers out that way....one family doesn't even post but they recently plowed their decent hunting land. I need to knock on some doors to gain more access...oh well I am kind of addicted to the mulies anyways.

I have been over in the Palouse 3 times in the last 6 weeks and I have yet to find private property to hunt without paying.  I used to have no problem getting permission when I went to school at WSU, but the area and the farmers have definitely changed.
My fiance and myself both have tags for the late season, but I refuse to pay to hunt.  Anybody got any ideas on public land where we might be able to fill our tags?

Check for land down by the snake. I have hunted over there for a couple of years now and have had success finding some public land there. It will all be very tough country though.
A bad day hunting is better then any day at work

I have hunted that area before and we only seen muleys on the breaks.  The late tag is for whitetails only and they are usually up in the wheatfields.
