Havalon Piranta Knives

What do you guys think of the Havalon Piranta Knives. Razor sharp but are they a good skinning and boning knife? My 15 years in the Restauant Business conditioned me to use Forschner boning knives (Victorionox Steel). Reasonably priced, easy to sharpen, great handles. Good for taking down a side of beef or trimming a Frenched Rack of Lamb. For $20 bucks they can't be beat. However the Havalon's interest me. Any thoughts?

I used one this year on both the deer I killed.  I will never switch back to a regular knife....Ever.   I gutted, skinned and boned both deer and used only one blade for each animal.  They are unbelievable.  It makes the job way easier in the field.

I have used one for three years now. I have skinned and or boned everything from, elk,(Perfect for caping out heads) deer, bear, coyotes, and fish, Like the poster stated above I'll never use another. They are great, I still carry my regular knife for utility purposes. Get the orange one you dont want to loose a "scalpel" in the snow or low light.

I bought one this year and won't use another knife!  It skinned a full elk and I never needed to wipe it clean or sharpen it or change blades (as others needed to do).  It is very small and light too!!!

Best knife I have ever owned.  Still carry a couple of others for breaking legs off at joints, etc. because the blades are too fragile to pry or really get into the joints but they are perfect for boning out.  I really like using them for caping and skinning.

They're not bad, but after skinning out 17 antelope last month (first time we ever used them) I would add they take some time getting used too.  They skin nothing like a bigger fixed blade type knife.  However, once you get a feel for them, they aren't bad.  I wouldn't say they're any better, but the biggest plus is when the balde gets dull just pop another in and keep on going,that and they're light.

Have been meaning to get one for about two years, and just bought one on e-bay today after reading this thread. Hunter orange, with 12 blades and a holster, shipped to the house for $39.

Just bought an orange one at Wholesale Sports for $33. Came with 12 extra blades.

For all you cheap azzes like me out there...I have been using a carpet installers knife for years. 8$ knife and the replacement blades are double sided and inexpensive too.....surgically sharp blades!
