williams peep sights
« on: October 10, 2010, 01:11:54 AM »
i just bought an older winchester model 70 chambered in 30-06Spfd this is an excellent shooter unfortunately the rifle shoots a little to far to the right for me to fire comfortably with the iron sights that were mounted previously on the weapon. i just finished putting on a brand new Williams 5D receiver sight. unfortunately i cant understand why the windage adjustment wont move. it has two screws on the top that you can loosen and theres three holes to choose from for your screws but you cant adjust the aperture but two different ways. am i an idiot or is this the way it is? i just cant understand why there would be 12 hashmarks on each side of the sight for windage but it only lets you move it for a couple. any help would be appreciated :'(

(PS i cant mount a scope on the rifle either because the front tap screw hole was obliterated from the previous owner. kinda sucks but at least the rifle is a pre 1964 model 70)
