Tri-Valley cow tag
« on: October 13, 2010, 06:44:23 PM »
So i got drawn for one of the tri-valley cow tags from dec. 1- jan 15 and was wondering if theres alot of public access out that way? I wanna say its a mile off the each side of the highway. I have some friends that live out that way that said they'd show me some spots, but i was wondering what u guy thought.

Sorry, I don't know Tri-valley.

Is that a MH tag by Aberdeen?

I think your best bet would be to spend some time out there knocking on doors. There may be some land open to public access in the area, but probably a good chance the elk won't be there at the right time. You'll want to have access to some of the private fields that the elk feed in.

It's up by Wynoochee. A good friend of mine said that he knows of a few places we have access to but i hear most of that area is farm land.

Damage control hunt.  You had best start knocking on doors NOW!  They do not like when you show up last minute or trespass.  Make sure your friends now the landowners.  Many have been ticketed for hunting where a friend said they could.  Don't show up in camo.

Try either the GoHunt map on the WDFW site, or the Grays Harbor County Assessor site. Or, get a DNR Public Lands map. I think there may be some private timer company land that's open for public access in the area but you need to go scout the area to find out. Maybe someone else will see this and help you out. Again, I think the best bet would be private fields that elk feed in.

I believe Tri-valley is a one mile corridor along the Satsop, Wynoochee, and Wishkah. My wife took her first elk there, but we know someone and it still took till the last day and we got lucky. Start knocking on some doors!
