goin over with a buddy for modern. dont know the area at all and havent heard much about it either. anyone hunt the area? take any big bucks out there?

Havent hunted the area only been out that way to visit an ex, but from what I saw, lots of deer, lots of open terrain, you shouldnt have any problems.

Watch out for the locals..... (think Deliverance)

haha luckily were in with a local. were stayin with his uncle in tonasket and huntin out his back yard of 140 acres which is surrounded by public land. but i havent really gotten any info about scouting, sightings etc. but hopefully the tables have turned this year and i actually have some luck

Stay in the sagebrush for them thar muleys. We've got a cabin near Conconully in the Limebelt and sagebrush is best, trust me.

There's lotsa country over there and lotsa lazy road hunters. I've seen quite a few nice bucks right on hwy 97 just north of Riverside. East side of 97 going north. There is a county pit on the right side of the road where they dump dead deer. I don't know how much land is county. I bet if you find it, you might be able to get in where the bucks are hiding. The pit is right across from a big pond/lake looking deal with a small rock pit/quarry. You should be able to find it real easy. Good luck.

. We have 50 or so and do pretty well. I would love that kind of dirt. Good luck post pics of the success, and yes, most likely you will find guys that will be on the private land as well. Seems a lot of folks from over here (wet side) know someone over there and just assume that if there is not a house every acre it must be public land

. We ask people to leave our place every year, hopefully the cabin and trucks will prevent a few of them from pulling in, we will see. Go over have a great time and look at the potential of the area, see what you can do to increase your odds next year and the year after

. A small food plot, a mineral block, something that will pay off in future years. That kind of property and a place to stay is priceless, I am sure you know but be sure to be the best guest you can be so that opportunity is still open to you. We hunt just north east of Tonasket and there are deer there but still not like it used to be. This should be a good year.

ya im definatly lookin forward to bein over there. its my first year there so im not expecting a giant but just to get to know the area and potentially put in a plot and cam for next year. im more about just getting out in the sticks and just havin fun in the silence of the country. and i know what you mean about people bein a holes and thinkin they can hunt where ever theres not a house. i live in tenino and have a good amount of land but every year i gotta push people of my land cuz it aint posted and the house is at the corner of the property.

well sheeeet... started off all pumped about gettin over there now im kinda worried i aint gunna see anything

thanks for all the info guys ill be huntin as hard as i can hopefully it wont turn out too bad. headin out tomorrow, if it dont go to well before tuesday or wednesday i might head over and meet my dad in the northport area. but well see how it goes

good point bobcat. i got a reall nice 3-4 year old 4 point behind me but hes a ghost after july i think he lives in a tree house by the whistle stop for hunting season

for now ill stick to the east side till he gets a little dummer and wait for these wildlife biologist mf'ers to quit drivin around back there

Heading for that spot myself in a few minutes. Few days of deer hunting and then on to Wyoming elk hunt. Praying for better hunting weather. Good luck and safe travels to all.

Crazy, the numbers of hunters that head up this way. One friend in town has 23 friends and relatives staying at his house this week. Sleeping on the floors and in campers out side. Can't even begin to explain what the hills will look like in the well known easily accessable areas. I've never seen more orange and fewer deer in one week in my entire life. Still, there are places with little pressure. Tons of deer are shot every year.
