GMU 290 who has a tag?
« on: October 12, 2010, 01:36:33 PM »
I was wondering is anyone on here has a tag for GMU 290?
"One does not hunt in order to kill; on the contrary, one kills in order to have hunted..If one were to present the sportsman with the death of the animal as a gift he would refuse it. What he is after is having to win it, to conquer the surly brute through his own effort and skill with all the extras that this carries with it: the immersion in the countryside, the healthfulness of the exercise, the distraction from his job." A lifetime is about the soonest you can expect to draw that permit.

Actually, just looked and odds are about 1 in 180. So, if you live a healthy life, you could expect to draw that permit once in every two lifetimes.  :chuckle:

It's just about the hardest deer permit to draw in this state, if not THE hardest.

Your not trying to discourage me are you?  ;) Just kidding I have some great land to hunt just wish I had permission when it was time to put in for them. I will shoot my fill of yotes out ther untill I can get a Deer tag out there.

You're sure optimistic. And no I'm certainly not trying to discourage you.

It's just that 2,695 people applied for 15 permits last year. And the other hunt, that had 4 permits, had 2,867 applicants.  :o

I will not apply for any permit with that kind of impossible odds.
