I'd like to get a .257 Weatherby again.

I'd love to hear the benefits or the "why's" you guys want some of these off the wall calibers.

45/70 is just a classic, and I can't imagine a better round for relatively close shots in timber, whether the target is deer, elk, or bear. Not sure the 45/70 is an "off the wall" cartridge though.

Nostalgic English double barrel rifle, like the ones PH's used in Africa after the turn of the century, 470 Nitro Express or similar.  Problem is I don't have an extra $30K.

i have to add one more. one of the few guns i have always wanted, but have not bought yet. a good old double for a Africa hunt i really like the 458 Lott cal but would probably go with a 460. the reason i want this gun? knock down factor when black death is 10 yards away, with the look of hate in his eyes  can you tell i dream of Africa :chuckle:

I need a .223. Jackelope Duped me out of mine. But I got a sweet 7x57 mauser in return (bet not many have one of those)

I have 3 of those 7x57 Mausers.  1 fully sporterized and 1 half done and one bone stock.  I love that cartridge.  :IBCOOL:

Now what I really want is A  B.O.H.I.C.A.  arms 50 BMG upper to go on an ar15 lower.  I know its only single shot, but that would be one really cool "black rifle"
There's a reason they call it hunting, not killing.

These are definitely on my short list, too.  In fact, I have not one, but TWO Model 70 Featherweights in 30-06.  One I bought whent the "Classics" came out in the mid-90's, and one is a 1957 model left to me by G-pa.  The newer one might get the "338-06" treatment.

Along with Carpsniper, Caretaker and others, I have a hankering for an old cartridge used in Africa back in the day.  Long, rimmed catridges made for double guns make me :dunno:
I want the 9.3 x 74R because it has the above drool factor, and is something I can see myself toting out into the elk woods every year.  And I LOVE me some Ruger No. 1 without a scope.  I was looking at bullets on Midway for the 9.3 (.366 cal) and found many that have the round nose with a not-horrible B.C.; and a wide range of weights.  Brass is available as well.  Good elk/deer medicine in a No. 1 w/ iron sights.

Also would love to have an early Model 70 in both 375 H&H and 458 Win.  Just because.
