magazine capacity for big game
« on: October 15, 2010, 10:45:50 AM »
We are headed north for whitetail this weekend. My dad wants to use his Henry lever action 44 mag. The tube magazine holds 10 rounds. Is this legal? I do not see in the big game regs anything on magazine capacity.

There is no capacity limitation for big game hunting in Washington.

I've found I only need one round most of the time when using this.

I told my dad that he rarely needs more than one cartridge in the thick stuff he likes to hunt. He said his magazine will be full just in case we encounter a tweaker.

I think given the opportunity, most of us would carry far more than we ever need

but realistically.... you may need 5 tops. I'm bringing a few boxes, thar be varmints/bears out there too!
Theres plenty of room for all of gods animals.... right next to the mashed potatoes!

The only thing that has a capacity if for shotguns..Only 3..I talked to a few gamies both on Ft. Lewis, and state land, and all of them told me 3 rounds in a shotgun no matter what your hunting,,birds or big game..

Rifles I think state laws say 10 rounds..

There is no restriction on shotgun capacity when hunting big game.  The restriction applies only to upland birds and waterfowl.

You are correct.  There is no published regulation pertaining to magazine capacity for rifles when big game hunting.
