I'd imagine there are a lot of deer down already.  I'm amazed how many gunshots I hear the evening before the hunt starts.

I'm sitting here listening to the same thing as every year, someone firing 5 shots and then another 3.  Already heard several shots from different directions at least an hour before daylight.  Heard 2 different single shots at 1:30 this morning.  Good luck to those of you who are playing by the rules, it seems to be a rare thing these days!

heard 2 or 3 at daybreak, then one close in to my house when i got home!

got a late start, and picked a so-so area.  didn't know if the gates into the area closer to home that i like to poke around in were open(they were) and figured i'd be stepping on someone's toes.

did manage to have something come in really close, not sure if it was a deer, elk or bear though, because i didn't get a look at it.  was quite a rush listening to it coming closer and the squirrel alarms going off in the distance!

not right now.  we're in foster creek gmu 260.  we will be coming back to shelton and hunting after sunday though if things work like they did today.

my son and I counted 47 mule deer today.  4 does and the rest were either spikes or 2pt.  where we are at is a 3pt min.  I was sick to my stomach counting all of the 2pts.  the thought even crossed my mind to take one and run with it.  these 2pts arw well over 200lbs.  they just suck at growing antlers.
