I think his rag horn from the Toutle was the one in the back of the truck in the first picture.  The five point in the back of the truck was the bull his buddy got behind his house?

it is what it is. :chuckle: you seem to know a-lot about the unit. next time put in for a-better managed unit. :twocents: some people see stats that have 3000 plus people putting in for them and think it is a golden unit. do better research or stop complaining. nice bull you did what some will never do, be happy.  CONGRATS. :) and yes wdfw sucks on management.

I got a Toutle archery tag and we had a hell of a time in the early season.  I did have a chnace at a nice 5x5 but didn't have much time to hunt.  I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on where to go in the late season?

Well, since I won't be hunting there again any time soon.....We seen 2 dandy bulls off the 5550, one was on a dead end spur I believe it was the 5551?, has a real nice creek and clearcut that were pounded with elk sign.  Seemed like not too many guys were up there either, lots of traffic on the 5500 but most of that was bow pickers and looky lews.  Plenty of good brush hunting there.  Drive up the south fork of the toutle to the 5500, lots of good hunting on all the spurs.  Good Luck.

Oh believe me hes delicious, I was just hoping for a bigger one with the special tag.  Trueth is he is one of the best tasting bulls I've shot in years.  I was really suprised the meat is as good as it is, sence he was in the rut.  I've noticed that with blacktails, seems like rutted up bucks don't taste quite as good.  The meat from this bull is as good as it gets.
