My son took his first deer at 2pm today. He made the picture perfect shot. It was 150 yrds. It was moving away and across from us. We had about 30 seconds to set up. I hit the squeaker and he pulled the trigger. Deer dropped with 20 yards. I am a proud dad this day

and every day!!

Very well done. I remember my first buck like it was yesterday (it was 1973). It was WAY smaller than that fine buck. Today is one of those rare days that neither of you will forget. Congrats!!

Rifle is a Ruger #1 25-06. It does the job for sure. and for the cape, sorry it was not saved. We gutted it split it then carried it out on our shoulders 4 miles. Did not want the extra weight. And yes, it is a memory of a lifetime. Now I got to get him on a bear and a elk

Thats a nice first deer. I hunt all day for both Deer and Elk, I shot a nice bull that scored 322 at 12:30 in the afternoon. Now I take lots of snacks to keep me going. Congrats again.

Thanks for all the comments, I didn't mention that this is a 4 point. If you look at his left hand, he's holding the back point. I wish I would of thought a little more about composition before I took the photo's but I think I was more excited than he was.

Now I will be off tomorrow to get mine. There has been a lot of 4 and 5 points taken on the Mountain this year, but at least most of them have been taken by local's
