Not the way to cut a deer cape for a shoulder mount

Had a real nice deer brought in the shop this evening. The young soldier brought it to a well known meat processor and told them to cape it out for a shoulder mount and even paid to have it done and this is what we got to work with.

Both arm pits cut competely up through them.
Cut away most of the back, hoping I have enough for a form.
And left the entire neck in the deer, I pulled off at least 10 pounds of meat just to see how much was left behind.

Kind of sad when you bring it to supposedly a professional meat shop and this is the crap you get back.

Seth, I tell all my customers if they want to bring it to me I will cape it out in front of them and give them back their meat.

I also hand out brochures with all the different animals on there and where you should be cutting them for different mounts you want done.

Rack was too big for pictures,

Both, not a bad thing, the hair is solid on it, it is there probably because of the way it was cut.

But acording to the "story" if was the meat processor who did the cutting,...
if your meat processor has pine needles in their shop, find a different meat processor, just saying...

This is unfortunate... I sure would think someone should offer the meat processor feedback on their work! Hopefully you'll be happier with the one coming to you shortly! If you're interested in seeing photos they're in the deer forum.

OK this story sucks for a fellow service member, that butcher (cause thats what he is) should be paying for a new cape for this guy but we all know thats not going to happen so I went to deer camp with some buddies and there was a deer taken that I got to keep the cape from and I will donate it to this soldier if that is ok, Here is a pic !!

Robo, very generous offer, the kid was hell bent on using his own cape. I am going to do the repairs on it, and then dontate an entire habitat base to him. It was his first deer and he wanted it all to be his.

It's actually a mule deer cape from near winthrop, I guess they are bench bucks but still east of PCT !
