BBD my first white tail (pics added)
« on: October 18, 2010, 07:57:04 AM »
Ok so here is the story.  Opening morning I was hunting with my 9 year old daughter we where set up in a spot that the does where bedding down just waiting for one to come through.  At 7:30 5 busted through our spot and ran up over the wheat field.  We decided to try and loop around the hill and see if we could catch up with them.  We walked about a mile and stopped so she could rest and then continued on.  We where coming up over a small mound and sticking up out of the grass was nothing but horns at 30 yds.  We backed up about 5 yds. and had my daughter sit their.  This is her first year hunting and only wants the perfect positioning the buck was look right at us.  I left her their and crawled up the hill about 20 yds to try and get on top of it then I crawled along the fence and was 25 yds. from him.  He was still looking right at us and now i could see horns and ears and that's all.  I sat for 10 minuets hoping he would stand i realized he was not going to and decided to take the shot.  I put the cross hairs right between the horns and down about a 6 inches and let it fly!  His head hit the ground and it was over.  My daughter was so excited!  We walked u on it and he just kept getting bigger! He ended up being a 6 by 6 with 2 broken points on the right man I would love to have seen him in all his glory as a 8 by 6 !  He has a split G1 a kicker at the base on each side and a main frame 6 by 5.  Pics will be posted tonight.
