17 years in waiting, Wife does it!
« on: October 18, 2010, 11:06:45 AM »
Well I finally got my wife on a buck! she has been hunting for most of her life and never connected UNTIL NOW! I went out and got her on some private land this year in the hopes that with a little less pressure we could get her positioned on a buck relaxed and make a good shot and it all panned out great!  :IBCOOL:
To start off I had to work almost all night Friday  :bash: so I couldn't go scouting with her and the father in-law but she called me that night and said she found the buck she was going after HIS NAME IS RALPH LOL! We had hunted hard the first day looking for her Ralph! Seen a couple but nothing that was in our range or her buck, So sunday we went out and looked at a different spot to see if I could push some brush and kick anything out, to my suprise the draws I was in held nothing  :dunno: so we packed up and moved over to another set of draws and thought maybe we can get on one while hiking back to camp, we went through 3 draws stopping, glassing seen some does and coyotes but no buck! on the second to last draw as we are angling down toward the road I caught this buck feeding behind some down trees, I stopped the wife and told her to get down and lets climb up to a fence post to get a good rest, at this point the deer know nothing of our presence, we get all positioned I know that my heart was working overtime! i can only imagine what she was feeling! the buck did everything I willed him to do he stepped out from behind the brush and stopped broadside! I told her when she was ready to take the shot a long couple seconds later she shoots... clean miss :bash: but the buck jumps about ten yards and stops again! this time I talked to her through the whole thing " take your time hold steady let the gun surprise you!" BOOM I never heard it hit but he runs about 50 yards down hill holding his right front leg up stops again! I told her to put one more in him! BOOM and he is down!  :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL: I couldn't be any happier! It was better that my first buck by far! And youknow as luck would have it when we walked up on this deer she says " THAT'S RALPH!!!!!!!!!"
I am so proud of my wife! I am shaking just sharing this with you fellow hunter!  :)  FYI I was so excited that I forgot the camera in my pack down the hill so we took pics before loading him in the truck  :)

It's always cool to see and help someone get their first buck.  Congrats.  How 'bout some pics?

Congrats! That's a beauty!
I am not opposed to golf, for I suspect it keeps armies of the unworthy from discovering deer.
