Yeah I didn't even have to read the story and Im convinced of bull shizz too, his stories are mixed and inconsistant. And the comment he made "wheres your deer?" That really wasn't much of a deer, he really should have let him grow, definitely wouldn't be showing my face with such a little deer. I wish I could have read the original story.

First of all your gun is a piece of crap,   Thats probably why you missed. Remington didn't do well with the 700 series.

:dunno:  I own more then one Rem. model 700 and all are damn good guns. I beleive they have done fairly well with them.  Maybe it's the shooter.

I did not read the story so no comment from me. Looks like good eats. Congrats. If what was said about taking the scope off, putting back on and not sighting it in after.....you may need more training in that area.

First of all your gun is a piece of crap, believe me I own the same one. you probably thought oh wow bore sighted right out of the box like the advertisements said when you bought it huh? Not the case. Thats probably why you missed. Remington didn't do well with the 700 series. Congrats, though not much to brag about but will be tender.
I guess that the reason that a lot of Police sharp shooters use "700 series" rifles is because they are a "piece of crap"?  Sorry pal but the 700 is one of the most proven rifles out there.  Maybe your problem is operator error, it usually is with claims such as yours.

There is nothing wrong with the size of deer.....that is why he is legal. I would have no problem showing my face with any legal deer....no matter the size.

I just noticed my last post has a comment quote from you as well. 1st one saying the REM modell 700's didn't do very well and his gun is a piece of crap..........and now slamming the size of a perfectly legal deer. WTH  I see nothing but B.S. in both of those comments.

I too wish I had read the story.

Your kidding right? The 700 is an awesome gun. You must mean something else.

the meat was on the stump better than being in the dirt...

Carry a game bag/pillow case if you're going to "quarter" it.  Or use the back of the hide you just skinned off, use your pack that you're going to carry it out in, use an emergency blanket, etc.  Anything to keep it clean and off the dirt/stumps/etc.

Remington didn't do well with the 700 series.

Your kidding right? The 700 is an awesome gun. You must mean something else.

Maybe he meant the 770s?  Not sure if that is what is pictured but I've heard bad things on the 770s.  The 700s on the other hand are good guns.

Funny yet sad how someone starts a thread to announce theyre kill and regardless of the facts, gets jumped on by other members. Quick nitpicking other peoples hunts and get out in the field or do something productive.

What I meant by the 700 series is the 710 (shown in the picture) and the 770, the bolts are very loose, binding and get stuck, whereas with the 700 itself does not get stuck but smooth. I owned one of the 710 models and ended up selling it, because it is straight JUNK and ended up buying the 770 which is better than the 710 but still has bolt issues and double feeds rounds quiet often. The 700 (remington model 7)( seven) "Police use"to clarify on the other hand is a well built gun and has a smooth bolt and does not double feed like the 710 and 770; which is not shooter error. The 770 will shoot accurate but the bolt has alot of "play" and that causes the bolt locking pin to sheer or get worn down and sometimes comes out of the receiver with it locked in place, another common problem with the 710 and 770 is that the bolt latch inside near the handle is plastic so easy to get worn out and break leading to a totally non firing gun which in turn is useless and remington will not fix it. So I hope that is clarification enough. I still wouldn't have shot a buck that small, kind of an ethic of mine so, tu che to you sir. . . . .

Congrats on a successful hunt. Wish I could have read the whole story. Did he state his rifle was a Remington? Looks a bit like a Howa to me.

People forget that the safety on a gun, like any other mechanical device, can fail. I wouldn't trust my safety to keep an 8 oz trigger from turning over  :twocents:
