Dry spell over! BUCK DOWN!
«

8am this morning, I spotted this guy about 100yds up the hill from me. One shot from a 130gr Berger VLD being pushed by 56 grains of H4831 and it was all over!
As he lay.
Just before we gutted him.
Side view of his rack and where I hit him in the neck.
Back at camp, getting ready to skin him out.
My two daughters were excited!
He was ready for winter.. lots of fat and long hair.
Dad was pretty happy. I was shooting his handloads.

I passed on two other bucks earlier in the morning. I was trying to get the angle on another buck I spotted when I seen this guy. He was looking right at me and I could not see all his points. He turned his head for a second to look at the other deer and I seen he was at least a 3pt. But the way he was standing I really did not have a good body shot. But his neck was wide open. My Howa loves them Berger bullets and I can consistently put them in sub MOA groups at 100yds. I felt confident in taking the neck shot as I was in the prone position with a good rest. Breath..... Relax.....Aim.... Squeeze..... BANG! Then all I could see in the scope was 4 feet pointing skyward as he rolled a couple of times.

Nice buck and way to put your dry spell to rest! Lots of blood on the ground there, looks like he pumped all his blood out in a hurry.
