First Archery Deer with LimbSaver Proton
« on: October 18, 2010, 10:49:58 PM »
I was lucky to draw a 2nd deer tag and decided to use archery equipment.  I have a great spot that I have been scouting since the spring that has plenty of big blacktail bucks and does as well.  I have had my stand up since August and I was in it Saturday morning. I didn't see any movement and my trail cameras were not showing any activitiy for the last month.  I decided to move my setup to see if I could find where the deer were hanging out.  I ended up jumping a deer so I decided to put my stand there.  After a lot of work moving my stand all by myself I didn't even hunt the evening and decided to be in my new setup at first light on Sunday.

I was in my stand just after first light...it wasn't 40 mins and I could hear some deer.  I had 4 does come in and circle my stand.  They walked in on the same trail I did.  The largest doe was sniffing the air and knew something was up and she just decided to stay...Since she seemed to be on to me and was the biggest of the 4, I figured she needed to be taken out.

I ended up shooting her at only 14 yards just between the shoulder blades.  She went down right there I put one more arrow in her lungs to finish her.  Thanks for looking...I hope to have my buck soon!

View from my treestand.  Just a 14 yard shot!

Is that frost on the tree limbs?  That's a pretty cool first pic.  Congrats on your deer.

How do You like the Proton? I am still set on my Mathews Switchback, but shot a LimbSaver Deadzone a while back, and though I found the bow to be heavy, it shot really nice.
