Successful Youth hunts (with pics)
« on: October 19, 2010, 11:16:22 AM »
Some of you remember earlier this year Garry from Wild Country Guide Service ( www.wildcountrygs.com ) offered to take youth hunters out for does for free.

This opening weekend we went down to join Garry and the youth hunters.
Shannon, David and Myself helped guide and film the hunts and we all had a great time.
Garry has a awesome operation there and is one heck of a guide! All three kids we filmed tagged does on Saturday and all the action was caught on camera.  All the kids made great single shot kills.
You couldnt ask for a better performance from a great bunch of youth hunters!

It is great what Garry does for both these kids and the sport. I was glad we could tag along for the hunt.

All the Does the kids killed were mature barren does.
Garry spent a long time looking the deer over before letting them shoot.
He manages the heard very carefully

My 8 year old son was signed up for this the last weekend of the season.  He broke his arm at soccer practice and can't hold the rifle so he is out.  He is really bummed.  I have been taking him with me and maybe he can set the rifle on my back and pull the trigger or something if we see a deer but, so far, it is just looking too difficult.  :(

One nice thing about the doe hunts is we can get setup and wait. with shooting sticks and a little help he may be able to get it done? we could even build some type of rest if needed..
