My first Deer
« on: October 19, 2010, 12:36:11 PM »
I couldnt have done it without my good friend and all around adventure guide at my side. From picking out the perfect rifle for me ( a Marlin youth model .308) to target shooting, to driving me out into the woods, then heading out first to break trail and catch the spider webs as we headed out into the brush for this adventure. This beautiful buck became mine at 8:02 am Sunday morning near the south end of the Vail tree farm. My friend couldnt have been more proud of me as I was able to harvest this animal from across the clear cut. i will never forget this day, this deer, or this dear friend.

Thank you! He got taken to the meat shop today and weighs 115 lbs!  It has been a journey. I am looking forward to the deer steak on my plate! :) I have very much enjoyed the camaraderie of the whole experience. I am one of the people with the sleepy eyes and the blaze orange heading out down the road at 3am to get to where we need to be. I am happy that I found this site and am really enjoying reading everyone else's stories- looking forward to contributing more of my own as well ;)
