All worked out in the end! That's exactly why I've posted on here many times that I would NOT use core-lokt bullets, especially for elk. My experience with them has been the same. It was my brother's deer actually- I personally have never used core-lokts. But in this incident the bullet disintegrated after hitting nothing more than a rib on a small mule deer. This was out of a 30-06 so it's not like it was the result of ultra high velocity.
