My best Mule deer to date!
« on: October 19, 2010, 04:07:08 PM »
I got off shift at 8am on Saurday morning. Thank goodness the public did not keep us to busy during the night and I was able to get a bit of sleep. I got home, had the truck loaded and was on the road by 910am and arrived at Grandmas house by noon. The family had two bucks hanging in the barn from the morning hunt. After lunch, FF4607 and I headed out and began to glass. We spotted a tall buck, almost as wide as his ears, looked like a 3x3, so we decided to go after it. On our way down the first canyon between us and the 3x3, we began to see a few deer. We saw a few smaller legal bucks that we let go. We began to glass some more before we bump any more deer and we saw two good bucks in the shadow of a juniper bush. One is a shooter for sure so I got settled in and looked threw the binos at him again and locked on to the bigger buck. FF4607 used the Leupold range finder and the shot was 274 yards, and he said why dont you take him? FF4607 decided to hold out as it was only the first day. So I put the crosshairs on his boiler room and let the .270win bark. The buck rared up like a mustang on his back legs, and we could see it was a solid hit. He went close to 100yards, to my suprise, and went down. The shot put a hole threw the heart and destroyed a lung and shoulder. He is a 3x4, 20'' wide. He is now getting stuffed and I cant wait till I get him back! I use 140gr Accubonds, and the bullet went clean threw.  Thanks for making this hunt happen FF4607, and its your turn next!

Hey congrats C-Money.  That's a really nice buck.  Love the pictures.  Makes me miss that country.  That is by far my favorite country to hunt deer in.  Miss that stuff.  Good stuff.  Good luck on elk this year.

Yep! He is a E. Washington buck, I got him about 3 hours away from Moses Lake, lol, he is not from 278.

:chuckle: Ya, I have a few pics that would be a dead give away on where he was at. I will say he lived on a farm, and grazed with cattle.
