I'm embarrassed to say l've done the same thing once, Only it was a 4x5 bull.The bull was broadside looking uphill away from me when I shot. Grossly overestimated the distance and hit him in the base of his right main be making him a 5x5. Sad part is he let me fling two more arrows at him before he figures it out, but I was too flustered at that point to realize I was aiming to high. Initially I thought I hit him In the head cuz his legs all locked up and he started
wobbling around. The he turned sideways and could see my broadness sticking out 1 " above his skull. That 70# really rung his bell. I have since purchased an angle range compensating rangefinder to take out the guess work. Haven't had a shot at a bull in the five years since.
