Father and Son's 2010 WA deer
« on: October 22, 2010, 07:57:47 AM »
Dad and I just got back yesterday.  I got a decent muley on tues that thought it was a goat.  Took about 7 hours to get it out of the cliffs, and back to the truck.  Wednesday, went up and glassed when my dad proceeded to walk out a ridge and shoot a decent muley about 400 yards below me (I did not know it was there).  He directed me into it because his muley thought it was a white tail (was hidden in the thick brush 306 yards from where he shot).  He put me right on it and I snapped some photos while waiting for him to show up.  Anyways, guess which one is dad's, and which is mine!  The tall one is a 4x4 if you count the 1 eyeguard.  The other is a 5x5 if you count the eyeguards.

Oh, another thing that I need to mention that is cool... I shot mine at 7:30, and at 8:30, used my SPOT messenger.  My dad just happened to get the text on his cellphone of the coordinates.  We didn't pre-arrange this, just I thought it'd be cool for my wife to see that I was "OK" with my SPOT, and have the coords of my deer.  So after packing out 1/2 of my deer to the trail, my dad showed up to help me with the head and other half.  Pretty cool!  Otherwise, he would have had no idea where I was, or if I was the one that shot...  Pretty cool!  That also worked with my elk this year, when I didn't show up for dinner, he checked his cell, saw the coords of where I was, 3 miles in.  Course, you need to be within cell range to receive the text message (which we are finding out is much easier than doing voice communication on a cell line).

Hey Robodad, can't say quite yet.  Both are tagged, I assure you.  The one that appears to have no tag has it wrapped in electrical tape completely.  I'll post another pic later with us carrying it out where you can see this more clearly.  I didn't want to post other pics right away, it would give away who's deer it is.

Nice Rokon.  Too bad we can't license them!

I say yours is on the left because it's beat up from the hard pack out; or maybe yours is on the right because you plan on having a shoulder mount and your dad doesn't care to get his mounted!  Well, maybe yours is the one on the left, because I believe the truck is yours and you naturally put your buck on the driver's (your) side...! :chuckle:

Nice bucks though!  Great job.

Nice going!

I'm going to say yours is the 4x3 because to me it doesn't look like it has been dead as long.   :chuckle:

I am going to guess yours is the one on the right, because I would guess that you wrapped the tag more to keep it from getting ripped off or torn up on the pack out.
