3 bucks down in the VG camp
« on: October 22, 2010, 08:22:06 PM »
Just heard from Winthrop deer camp. I couldn't be there this weekend (I already have an archery deer anyways). They got a 4x4 down yesterday and a 3x2 and 4x4 today. Alecvg saw a legal buck but couldn't close the deal.  Still 3 more hunters with tags, hopefully they have some more luck. Pics will be posted when available.

Uncle Mel shot a 3x2 in his bed around noon yesterday. Brian and Dan both shot 4x4s. Alec had a shot at a 3x? And it didn't work out.

Attached is the only pic I have - Dan's 4x4 from Thursday.

Nice!  Cant wait for the rest of the pics.

We got back last night.  Didn't get anymore, snowed during the night saterday, too bad it wasn't a few days earlier.  I did have a shot at a buck in the timber, saw only half his rack, and that side was a nice three point.  I somehow missed, don't know how, but I did.  Still an awesome season, best we have had out of this camp.  All the deer smelled rutty, and two of the three were shot in their beds in the afternoon.  I will try to get some pics up tomorrow.

Don't beat yourself up over that deer Alec.  I talked to Uncle Mel for quite a while today and he mentioned you were pretty bummed.  It happens to ALL of us if you hunt long enough.  You still got this week on this side.  Go out and redeem yourself w/ a big rutty Blacktail.   That's the best way to forget the ones that got away!

Yeah, I know Nathan; I have a nice looking spot that I have been scouting for late season, and a landowner with a nice four point hanging around down low.  Hopefully I will be able to get one.
