Daughter's first buck (nine years old)
« on: October 23, 2010, 10:30:37 PM »
My nine year old got her first buck friday evening. After looking hard for a 5 point muley we had spotted prior to the season, the opener was a bust. So I took her over to try for a whitetail. She really wanted a buck but she would take a doe if she got the chance. first thing friday morning we jump a doe but dad is too slow with the shooting sticks. that evening we went to a honey hole and just as we arrived three doe were running across the open bowl. I couldn't get the deer to stop so she didn't get a shot off. We moved into position and sat down with a half hour of shooting light left. My daughter was giving me a hard time about not letting her shot at the running does when I spotted a buck feeding. How the buck ended up in the middle of a fairly open bowl, I don't know but there he was at about 120 yards. this time the sticks were in place and my daughter made a good shot.
funny how things work out sometimes.

Ya I'm a proud dad...this is her second year hunting. Last year she got a cow elk for her first animal. She was very excited to get the buck this year.

WOW!!! You have got to be soooooo proud! I have my first, a boy, being borne in January. i can not wait to experiance this with him and my 2.5 year old step daughter! just thinking of passing this passion on to them makes all the poopy diapers and sleepless nights worth it. Way to go!!!!
