« on: October 24, 2010, 09:20:52 PM »
I plan to hunt little naches in Nov. for archery elk and I'm wondering if the elk migrate out. I plan to hunt the north east portion of the unit. Any info would be appreciated THANKS!!!

they can move the entire unit during the day. Does this answer your question?

There are the local elk in the area and the migratorial elk.  You will notice the cattle trails when the elk push threw

The cattle trails are there most of time.
They graise cattle up there in teh spring and all summer. I even see cattle in there durring early archery season in Sept  :bash:

Nothing like sitting an area and have a herd of cows come mosieing by  :bash:

Salt licks placed all over to keep the cattle close by

That'll be a tough one. Bald Mt is a war zone during the modern season. I've literally seen 20-25 trucks lined up on the side of the road with all of them hunting the Bald area.

The chances of success with a bow after the circus during rifle season is pretty slim IMO.

Thats if there are any elk left up there with all the snow that Chinook Pass is getting right now.

Bald Mt is a bit high for elk that time of year. I have been up there many times, that is if you can get there with out a snowmobile and never seen a thing.

MF season is a circus up there, and the animals head out to the deep forest one the shooting starts. I have been there for both MF (years past) and early season this year.

It was not good place to hunt at all this year (early archery season).

I just got done hunting there yesterday, my buddy had a special rifle permit. bald mt. We woke up to snow this morning at low elevation. Chinook pass was a mess I would focus on something low. Got luck the general firearm is a war zone. My buddy took a 5x6 11/2 Hrs into the hunt on opening day. Lots of elk

Not sounding too promising. I hunted the rimrock unit in the early season and never seen an elk. Obviously I was in the wrong spot but There didn't appear to be much sign either. Guess I'll have to go back to the blues just a longer drive

What area in the Blues during late archery?
