blacktail/ridgerunner buck down
« on: October 25, 2010, 07:30:36 AM »
Got this guy on friday at about 10 in the morning. Took the day off work to hunt the first day of the weather change, picked up my old man and headed up. We spotted this buck bedded in a big hole, on a duff pile in the christmas trees. We decided he was worth shooting after looking at him for a little while, the fog was messing with us a little bit as it was rolling in and out, but it eventually cleared. He was 301yds and laying quartering away, I held on the corner of his shoulder and rolled him over in his bed. My dad and I havent killed a buck together for a few years, so it was a pretty cool day. He was a real hog body, and looked to have a little muley in him. I included a pic of the new hangin' tree we finished last week, we got to break it in!

Huge body! Nice buck, it would be cool to see a side profile of him.
If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.
